About Nick, |
|
It's always funny to write about yourself. What do you write about? What is
relevant and what is important you want others to know about you? I always start with the fact that I was born in Nice, France. It's really
Nice, South of France. After all, Nice has only been French for 170 year.
There is a strong sense of identity that is neither French nor Italian.
It simply is Nice. So having said this, I really consider myself like
anyone, an earthling who happens to have been born on the Mediterranean
Sea. At the tender age of 11, my world was forever changed. I left my
little 1,500 population village for the USA, a half hours North of New
York City in a village called Larchmont. My understanding then of a village
was 3,000 people tops, Larchmont was 30,000. I went through high school
at Mamaroneck High School in a great program where my teachers and I wrote
evaluations about my studies and I never received another grade until
College. It was a revelation coming from such a strict environment as
the French educational system. My first extra-curriculum class was Eastern
Philosophy where I learned about Taoism and meditation. This set the tone
of my philosophical upbringing henceforth. Then came the dreaded day where my father working for IBM was being called
back to France. Being 17, I had to leave my friends and go to this country
I knew little about. We went to Paris. I finished high school at the American
School of Paris and went on to the American College of Paris. Both were
great schools but even more great social places. Schools have always been
a social place for me and I got bored with the tedious work that seems
to have no concrete application in my life. After getting out of college,
I had to get acquainted with the then forced military service. After that,
I went back to Nice to teach. It was fun and I renewed a love of old cars
my parents had had in my youth. After lusting after a Triumph GT6, I bought
an Alfa Romeo AlfaSud and fell in love with Italian cars. I taught languages
and became the coordinator of a language center near Nice. Slowly, I started
working with computers and modernizing pedagogical tools by introducing
interactive teaching methods. I eventually left for Japan after my boss was leaving for Mexico City.
Leaving behind a plateaued professional life and a failed relationship,
I discovered the extremely exotic Japanese life. I was greeted with a
big old fish on top of a rice ball with chop sticks on a very cold January
morning. I ended up in Kyoto where I met many expatriates. The life was
fun, money was easy and social life was a blast. Eventually I met Virginia,
a Southern Georgia belle on her way back to the States. We hit it off
and somehow I followed her back to New York. There we got married and
going on strong 10 years. I taught languages again and coordinated teachers
and classes. I became more involved with computers and eventually started
an IT consulting company n the city. It was fun until I realized that
I really wasn't helping people live better. I decided to let go of the
company to two partners and left for California where we have been living
here in Long Beach ever since. I came over here with the idea that my life would have to be about making
a difference. I wanted to help out, leave a smooth wake behind me and
just be there for others. I am the type of person people come to and talk
about their problems. I elicit trust, I have been told. With a long stint
at the locally famous Robert Weil Associates, a great little mom and pop
real estate shop where people had been working together for decades, the
market crashed with a thunder as I started my coaching practice. The practice came about as I sat in front of my first coach, Donna Schilder
from Glacier Point here in
Long Beach. As I sat in front of her, I realized what I really wanted
to do was to do what she does. I signed up at CoachU
and started Tap The Source in October of 9007.
My current mentor/Coach is Winston Conner from Coaching
Dynamics. Both have been with me overseeing my amazing journey into
self discovery and my budding practice. Donna gave me my first taste and
sparked my enthusiasm for coaching. Winston is the person for Coaching
Mentorship. I have made exponential strides with them. Likes and dislikes: Likes motivated positive people. Sounds trite? The
world works so much smoother when everyone pulls his or her weight together
forward towards a positive future. Dislikes, politicians, local honchos,
or anyone lacking strong ethics and leadership. I am involved with the Alfa Romeo Owner's Club of Southern California.
I love Italian cars, Alfa Romeos, Maseratis and old 1920 to 1970's cars. I am passionate about ancient philosophies and religions. I love old
hermetic texts and anti-deluvian stories. I am a Reiki master teacher and a Kofutu healer instructor. I am fond
of crystals. I love my daily meditation and don't feel good without it. Good friends, good healthy food, good conversations, and as Gandhi said
best: "The revolution starts within". Favorite quotes: "The revolution starts within" and As Above, So Below. As Below, So Above. The Kybalion |
